Mouni Roy who got fame after the TV series Nagin has finally got her first Bollywood break opposite Akshay Kumar in the movie ‘Gold’. The producers of the film are Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The film’s release date is close to the Independence Day 2018. The story revolves around India’s first gold medal as a free nation in Olympics 1948 for the national sport-hockey’. Basically, it is a male dominated movie but Mouni’s role will be significant enough. She would have to shoot for around 20-25 days sharing the screen with Akshay Kumar.

Akshay Kumar will be playing the role of Balbir Singh showcasing the character’s ups and downs extensively in the movie with 12 important years of India’s history. Balbir Singh was the major reason behind India’s first gold medal. In one of the matches of that series, Balbir Singh scored a hat-trick of goals against Argentina. Scripted by Rajesh Devraj, the movie will express a new Avtar of Mouni Roy set back in old times of 1948.
At present, Akshay Kumar is busy in the promotion of his film ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’ featuring Bhumi Pednekar, the fame of ‘Dum Lagake Haisha’.
